STORY LINE:

In their teenage years, few things can hurt people more than the heartaches that come with unrequited love. Such is the case for Natsuo Fujii, who has found himself entranced by his school’s ever-cheerful teacher Hina. Deflated by this unreachable desire, Natsuo humors his friends and attends a mixer. There he meets Rui, a girl whose lack of excitement rivals that of himself. After bonding over their mutual awkwardness, Rui takes Natsuo to her house and asks him to have sex with her, hoping that the experience will stop her friends from treating her like a clueless child. With his hopeless feelings towards Hina still on his mind, Natsuo hesitantly agrees.

Equally unfulfilled by their “first times,” the two decide to part ways as strangers. However, before he even has a chance to process this experience, Natsuo’s father drops a major bombshell: he is getting remarried, and his new wife Tsukiko Tachibana is coming over now to meet Natsuo. As if that was not enough of a shock, her daughters—and, in turn, Natsuo’s new sisters—are Hina and Rui Tachibana, the woman he’s in love with and the girl with whom he shared his first night. Now, Natsuo must come to terms with the feelings he has for his step-siblings as his eyes open to a darker side of love.

The Characters of Domestic Girlfriend:

Natsuo Fujii

Natsuo is a high school student who is 17 years old and an aspiring novelist, full of creative impulses but hiding it from all his friends and classmates. He becomes romantically involved with his school-teacher, Hina Tachibana, as well as future classmate and later-stepsister Rui Tachibana.

Rui Tachibana

Rui is a high school student who eventually develops feelings for Natsuo. She initially met him on an outing with friends, where they snuck out and both lost their virginities with one another, to unexpectedly become his stepsister after her mother remarries.

Hina Tachibana

Hina is a high school English teacher who eventually begins a relationship with Natsuo, one of her students who is also her step-brother.

Momo Kashiwabara

Momo is a classmate of Rui and Natsuo. She is infamous for being flirtatious and sexually promiscuous (when asked, she estimates she hooked-up with over 30 boys, including one of Natsuo’s friends), aside from her hobby of making weird plush dolls.

I admit, I’m not one usually for any sexual content, but this one went somewhere I didn’t expect. I orginally saw this as an advertisement for another video streaming provider on Facebook. Watching the trailer peaked my interest. So, I quickly Googled the Anime, and found it on Crunchyroll. And I began watching it. And I have personally enjoyed it with all the love and joy in my heart. I hope a 2nd season will come soon, because while I don’t agree with the ending, it definitely had a lot of impact on me. 10/10. You guys / girls have earned it. Thank you for another amazing and heart touching Anime.
